Logitech UE BOOM learns a new trick

When you buy a Bluetooth speaker, you do not expect it to evolve. In other words, you buy it from the store, it plays your music and there your relationship with the manufacturer ends, right? Wrong. Well, at least with Logitech. You see, the company announces a new firmware update that will teach the UE BOOM speaker new tricks.

"When we conceived of the UE BOOM and its updateable platform, our goal was twofold: introduce the world's first social music player and make sure it stays relevant with the ever-evolving world of music consumption. Social music enthusiasts have told us how much they love the 360-degree sound of the UE BOOM, its life resistant design and how it completely integrates into their lifestyle, and now we’re taking it to the next level, thanks to regular updates", says Rory Dooley, General Manager of Ultimate Ears.

Logitech lists the following new features:

  • Alarm -- Start last night’s party all over again, every morning. UE BOOM wakes you up with your favorite songs, Spotify playlists, Pandora stations and more. Because the party never actually stops -- you just fall asleep. Update your UE BOOM and then download the latest version of the UE BOOM app to start making mornings awesome again.

  • Updated EQ Settings -- Choose from our preset EQ settings to personalize the sound on your UE BOOM. New with this version, Bass Boost; an EQ setting which accentuates the low range for deeper, more resonant bass. We have also fine-tuned the volume steps to give you more nuanced control of the sound levels on your UE BOOM at lower volumes.

  • Other -- In addition to the new features above, we have also fine-tuned a few things and squished a couple of bugs to improve the overall experience with your UE BOOM.

To update your speaker, simply follow the instructions here. You can update the firmware using a Windows or OS X machine. Then, download the newest version of the UE BOOM app for Android or iOS.
