Simpler and more powerful web UI testing from Ravello

Web user interface testing needs a lot of time and resources if it's to produce worthwhile results.

Manual testing eats into developer time and even using established testing frameworks like Selenium requires significant computing resource. Cloud specialist Ravello Systems has introduced blueprints for Selenium Grid to its SaaS test offering to bring cloud capacity to bear on automated testing. It allows developers to run their applications on a public cloud and offers a scalable, customizable and cost-effective testing environment.

It works with a range of Selenium-supported languages including, Java, Objective-C, JavaScript with Node.js, PHP, Python, Ruby, C#, Clojure, and Perl. Additional benefits include API control making it easy to start and stop testing cycles, multi-client support so that desktop and client applications can be run alongside web apps, and improved network performance. It also offers improved flexibility as Ravello can be modified to meet user specifics, control uptime and provide a pay-as-you-go model.

"Effective Web UI testing requires a variable amount of compute resources to achieve optimal results," says Chen Nisnkorn, manager of automation and DevOps best practices at Ravello Systems. "Instead of compromising on a solution that is either inflexible or requires long setup times, our customers can now use Selenium in the cloud on top of Ravello for optimum flexibility, scalability and customizability for automated Web testing".

Ravello offers a pay-as-you-go usage-based pricing model and the Selenium Grid blueprint can be accessed on its website where you can also sign up for a free trial.
