You may recall that in mid-May South Korean maker LG announced three new slates, part of its G Pad Android lineup. At the time details were scarce, as only the display size was revealed alongside the availability of branded software add-ons like Knock Code and QPair (and, of course, their names).
Today, LG announces the roll-out of the G Pad 7.0, G Pad 8.0 and G Pad 10.1, with the 7.0 being the first to hit store shelves, in Europe, this week. The two other slates will be available starting in the next couple of weeks. Its new devices "offer just the right balance of performance, personality and price to fill the gap between entry and premium tablets", according to LG.
"LG understands that people have different needs and we wanted to provide consumers with a range of options in size, looks, and attractive price points that included the best of LG’s core technologies", says LG CEO Dr. Jong-seok Park. "With our latest tablets, LG is giving consumers options to find a device that best fits their lifestyle and needs".
Here are the big hardware commonalities: IPS HD display with a resolution of 1280 by 800, 1.2 GHz quad-core processor (likely a Qualcomm Snapdragon 400), 1 GB of RAM, microSD card slot, 1.3 MP front-facing camera, and Black, Luminous Blue, Luminous Orange, Red and White color trims.
On the software side, there is Q Pad 2.0, which "provides seamless converge" between Android-based smartphones and tablets by using a Bluetooth connection. It allows G Pad users to get notified about calls and messages on their smartphone and reply. Knock Code allows them to unlock their G Pad using a tap pattern (a maximum of four are supported), Smart Keyboard minimizes typing errors, and Dual Window enables better multitasking by allowing two apps to run side-by-side.
While there is no pricing information, LG does give us more details surrounding their hardware configurations. The G Pad 7.0 has a 7-inch display, 8 GB of internal storage, 3 MP back-facing camera and 4,000 mAh battery. It comes in at 189.3 x 113.8 x 10.1 mm and 293 grams.
The G Pad 8.0 offers an 8-inch display, 16 GB of internal storage, 5 MP back-facing camera and 4,200 mAh battery. It comes in at 210.8 x 124.2 x 9.9 mm and 342 grams.
The G Pad 10.1 sports a 10.1-inch display, 16 GB of internal storage, 5 MP back-facing camera and 8,000 mAh battery. It comes in at 260.9 x 165.9 x 8.9 mm and 523 grams. Obviously, all three have Wi-Fi on board.
