Britain's new state of the art £3.5bn aircraft carrier runs Windows XP

HMS Queen Elizabeth is the latest, largest, and supposedly greatest, Aircraft carrier to join the Royal Navy. It cost £3.5 billion ($4.5 billion) and was built by some 11,000 workers. It’s 280 meters long, with a displacement weight of 65,000 tonnes. There’s 250,000km of electrical cable and 8,000km of fibreoptic cable running throughout the ship. It’s state of the art in every way. Except one... It runs Windows XP. Journalists spotted the ancient OS on screens during a tour of the warship, although Mark Deller, commander air on the HMS Queen Elizabeth, suggests an upgrade might happen in the future.… [Continue Reading]
